Combination Fireplace Mantel & Entertainment Center


Many homes have an alcove next to the fireplace where the builder anticipated that the homeowner would be placing their television there. These spaces are usually 24" deep to accomodate the large screen televisions that were popular ten years ago. These spaces do not work for todays flat screen televisions. At San Diego Cabinets, we can reconfigure this space to house modern day televisions along with a host of electronic components and storage. We even add a display area for mementos and photographs.

We used a solid 3/4" thick back on the tv section so that the flat screen could be wall mounted while keeping a 24" depth to house the electronic components as well as the wood drawers below. Notice that speaker doors were included to hide the center speaker and woofer. In this case, the homeowner wanted a clean contemporary look on the mantel. Because the fireplace was immediately next to the alcove, careful design was used to make an attractive and interesting transition to the adjoining entertainment center. Hand carved corbels were added at each end to add flair while keeping the clean contemporary look.
